Agogwe
The Agogwe is a legendary creature of the the African continent. The Agogwe is said to be a small hominid roaming the jungles of Africa. Reported sightings estimate the Agogwe to be a roughly 3 foot tall creature that walks like a human, but is hairy and ape like. Much different in size from the North American Bigfoot or Asian Yeti.
One of the earliest sightings by a European occurred in 1900. Captain William Hitchens, while on a lion hunt in Africa, reported having sited 2 small human like creatures exiting the forest and returning to the forest on the opposite side of a clearing. His guide told him of Agogwe, a creature which many see only once in their lives if they ever see one.
After Hitchens report was published, many people were skeptical of his report. Soon after though another man reported seeing similar creatures walk out amongst feeding baboons. The creatures seemed to have no affect on the baboons, yet were clearly distinct in their walking upright unlike baboons.
Like bigfoot or the yeti, there is some speculation as to the Agogwe being a relic species thought to be long extinct. In this case the extinct specie could be Gracile australopithecine. There is also speculation that these sighting and others could be a mistaken identity of some other currently known species of primate.
